Jody Pitcher, Parish Counselor Student Intern

Supervised by Dr. Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Jody Pitcher is a graduate intern working towards a Master’s in Science from Divine Mercy University (DMU) to become a Licensed Professional Counselor with a focus on trauma. DMU’s counseling program integrates the Catholic teachings of the human person with neuroscience and psychology. She is a Certified Traumatologist with Green Cross, and level I certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Jody graduated from Bradly University in Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She has 16 years’ experience as a nurse; 9 of those years were in cardiovascular intensive care. She previously spent 3.5 years working for a pro-life center as director, manager, and counselor, where her passion for counseling was sparked.

Jody serves the public in many ways. As a nurse, she cares for the sick and educates the public on ways to improve their health. In July 2019, Jody spent a few weeks in Kenya working with the Into Abba Arms organization. They brought trauma education and counseling to local hospitals, neighborhoods, maximum prison, teachers, and pastors. Jody’s passion is to serve by using her nursing background, counseling, and faith to have a holistic encounter with clients.

As part of Jody’s self-care, she enjoys country dancing, CrossFit, outdoor actives, learning about history, and participating in church activities. She is new to the Houston area and is looking forward to establishing a community.
