Meet Larry…

Larry Freeney, Jr., PhD (cand.), LPC Intern;
Supervised by Cheryl Ivory, MA, LPC-S, and Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Larry is a Parish Counselor completing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Sam Houston State University and working towards full licensure. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Christianity (2014) and a Master of Arts in Counseling (2016) at Houston Baptist University. As an LPC Intern, he receives supervision from Cheryl Ivory, M.A., LPC-S and Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S.

Larry counsels from a refined approach that integrates counseling and Catholic fundamentals. He has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, by which he uses research-based strategies to help couples successfully manage conflict, empowers couples to dialogue about their worst gridlocked issues in a positive way, and helps them to heal their hurts while deepening their intimacy.

Larry has additional experience working as a Care Coordinator at The Harris Center (formally known as MHMRA) and as a Registered Behavioral Technician at Therapy & Beyond, where he worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. While completing his Master’s degree, he worked in a private practice setting where he gained more than 500 hours of experience.

In his free time, Larry enjoys spending time with his wife and volunteering at his local parish.
