Meet Matt…

Matthew Pici, M.Ed., LPC Intern

Supervised by Dr. Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Matthew Pici is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern who earned a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. He is under the supervision of Dr. Chris Stavitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S and Judith Ramos Jordan, LPC-S. Matthew is also a certified School Counselor in the State of Texas. He has worked as a Catholic school counselor, principal, campus minister, art teacher, and theology teacher in the past.

Matthew specializes in offering a counseling approach that incorporates the Catholic faith and prayer into the counseling relationship while focusing on each person’s strengths. In counseling, he can address anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, addictions, and issues affecting men. He primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while including elements of other therapeutic approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. With a Bachelor’s degree in Art, he enjoys incorporating Art Therapy into the therapeutic process when it interests clients.

Matthew has been involved in young adult ministry and Catholic education since 2002. His love for Catholic education was always rooted in the potential of helping form souls for their faith journey. This led to several leadership roles in administration positions and on school boards. In addition to his work in Catholic schools, Matthew has been involved with ministry through Life Teen, That Man Is You, and retreats. His adult life has been dedicated to helping people come closer to Christ through the Church. Matthew and his wife have three children and are parishioners at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laredo, Texas.
