Meet Samantha…

Samantha Tavares, M.Ed.

Samantha earned a Master of Education in Counseling and Development with a specialization in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling at Lamar University. She currently serves as a Parish Counselor at St. Bartholomew and a Counselor for students and families of St. John XXIII College Preparatory School in Katy. She provides assistance to students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success and she supports the emotional and behavioral needs of students with brief one-to-one counseling and small group guidance. Samantha enjoys working with individuals, as well as families and couples, who are struggling with communication issues, addictions, behavioral problems, grief, and chronic pain. She has over nine years of previous counseling experience in Brazil, her country of origin, where she earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

Samantha is married and has been blessed with two children. She likes to spend time with family and friends, and her self-care activity is running. She is a positive person who will always pray and be thankful for all the experiences God gives her in life.

Samantha is trilingual in English, Portuguese and Spanish. She also has a background in education and previously worked in the educational sector for three years, working with children. She is a member of the Schoenstatt Apostolate Movement in Houston and her home parish is St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Samantha obtuvo una Maestría en Educación en Consejería y Desarrollo con una especialización en Matrimonio, Parejas y Consejería Familiar en Lamar University. Actualmente se desempeña como consejera para estudiantes y familias de la escuela preparatoria universitaria St. John XXIII en Katy. Samantha brinda asistencia a los estudiantes durante los momentos de transición, estrés, cambios críticos u otras situaciones que impiden el éxito de los estudiantes y apoya las necesidades emocionales y de comportamiento de los estudiantes con asesoramiento breve individual y orientación en grupos pequeños.

Samantha disfruta trabajando con personas, así como con familias y parejas, que luchan con problemas de comunicación, adicciones, problemas de comportamiento, duelo y dolor crónico. Samantha tiene más de nueve años de experiencia previa en consejería en Brasil, su país de origen, donde obtuvo una licenciatura en Psicología. Samantha está casada y ha sido bendecida con dos hijos. Le gusta pasar tiempo con la familia y los amigos, y su actividad preferida de cuidado personal es trotar. Ella es una persona positiva quien ora constantemente y siempre estará agradecida por todas las experiencias que Dios le da en la vida.
