When our Lord became the Incarnate Word of the Father, he took on all that is human except sin. Our joys and sorrows. Our strengths and weaknesses. Our health and our hurts. Throughout his earthly ministry, as he went about preaching the Good News, he made that Good News visible, healing the people of their sins and sicknesses. Then He commissioned the Church to be his healing presence on earth until he comes again. As a priest, I am here to provide spiritual guidance and counseling. But often I recognize that the person or couple I speak with also needs healing and guidance from a counselor with a professional skillset that can be used alongside the treasury of Church teaching and the Gospel. That is why I believe that Rejoice Counseling will be a blessing in our parish and help us form a team that works for the health of the entire person, spiritually, intellectually and emotionally.

Meet Tommy
Tommy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who earned an M.A. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling at Sam Houston State University. He also holds an M.Ed. in Montessori Studies from Loyola University Maryland and completed undergraduate studies at the United States Naval Academy. Tommy has experience working with adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, groups and families with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, pornography addiction, and betrayal trauma. Janet Sturtz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor with over 20 years of experience as a therapist. She has a Masters in Spanish Literature from Kent State University (Ohio) and a Masters is Social Work from the University of South Florida (Tampa). She counsels individuals, couples, and families in both English and Spanish.

Fee / La Tarifa
- The fee for professional counseling is based on a sliding scale. All parishioners will be able to use a sliding scale. Your fee is determined by your annual household income and family size. We want to ensure everyone can receive counseling. Contact us for details.
