Parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,

Welcome to your personalized Parish Counseling page!

Our team of Parish Counselors is here to serve Catholic individuals, couples, and families across Alvin. We understand your parish strives to be a community of love through sharing, so we are ready to share our talents as professional counselors to bring healing, hope, and ultimately the joyful love of Christ. On this page you can learn about the counselors who are available to meet with you, see our office hours, and get in touch with us to schedule an appointment. We hope to hear from you soon!

Dr. Chris Stravitsch, President

A great part of Jesus’s ministry deals with healing: physical, spiritual and social healing. All of these are still available in the Church through its various ministries and rituals. However, in keeping with the extreme complexity of our lives today more is needed to bring about healing, such as what is provided by professional counselors. Faith-based professional counseling services are sometimes difficult to gain access to, especially for a small town like Alvin.

Here is the good news. Beginning in July, our friends from Rejoice Counseling Apostolate will help us with this particular need. One of their Parish Counselors will be available at our Church office one day per week. I hope and pray that we can take advantage of this new ministry for the sake of our well being.

Grief Support Group by Rejoice – 5 Sessions

Grieving with Great HOPE is a five-session grief support group in a DVD and small group discussion format that will be led by Rejoice Counseling Apostolate. It offers a prayerful, practical and personal approach for adults who have experienced the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, friend or other loved one. We all experience loss in a unique way and it is through prayerful reflection, practical learning and personal fellowship that we mourn. In mourning, we begin to build our bridge to a new and different life.

This free grief support group is open to parishioners of Most Holy Trinity-Angleton and St. John the Baptist-Alvin. It will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Mondays 12:00PM-2:00PM on June 10, 24, July 8, 22, and August 5 at the parish office. Purchasing a $20 workbook is optional. To register or for more information contact the Parish Counselor, Kelsey Johnson, at [email protected]
